PUBLIC NOTICE

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Selectboard of the Town of WHITINGHAM proposes, pursuant to Title 19 Vermont Statutes Annotated, Chapter 7, and pursuant to  vote by the Selectboard on its own motion, to take the following actions with regard to the three town highways set forth below:

1. To layout a class three town highway 40’ long by 82’ wide at the Municipal Center entrance off of Route 100, to be known as Town Highway #____;
2. To discontinue Sprague Brook Road (Town Highway # 46) in its entirety; the property to return back to the abutting landowners; and
3. To reclassify 1700 feet of Head of Pond Road (Town Highway #37) from Kentfield Road to the turnaround from a Class 4 to a Class 3 road.       

THEREFORE, pursuant to Title 19 V.S.A. Chapter 7, you are hereby notified that a site visit will be held by the Selectboard for the Town of WHITINGHAM on July 15, 2020 commencing at 5:30 p.m. at the Whitingham Municipal Center, 2948 Route 100, Jacksonville, Vermont. The Selectboard will convene and then visit the respective roads in succession. Masks must be worn and social distancing will be practiced. The site visits cannot be offered remotely.

The Selectboard shall reconvene in the Meeting Room at the Whitingham Municipal Center, 2948 Route 100, Jacksonville, Vermont, after the site visit for a hearing on the matter.  The hearing shall begin at 6:30 p.m. or as soon thereafter as the Selectboard and interested persons return from the site visit.  The purpose of the hearing shall be to hear all persons interested in said public highway laying out, discontinuance and reclassification, respectively. The Selectboard meeting/hearing will be available for remote attendance.
